Brendon Kowalski just dropped some next-level visuals! He brought Deskbee’s new identity to life with a launch animation that’s pure design on acid – bold, fresh, and unforgettable.
Can you describe how your workflow is from the question of the client to the finished product? (Intake, storyboards, sketches, and so on)
I always start with an initial meeting to understand the project’s goals, learn more about the brand’s key aspects, and how it wants to communicate. After that, I look for references of similar projects to get a sense of direction and create a storyboard with the main frames for the client to approve. I don’t go too deep into animation details at this stage, as I like to test those out later. Once the storyboard is approved, I animate everything and send it to the client for review. Usually, projects are approved on the first try, with only a few minor adjustments.
What kind of software did you use for the project?
I’ve used Adobe Illustrator for the storyboard and After Effects for animation.

Do you use plugins? If yes, which ones?
I only use plugins to improve workflow, not for animating. Plugins like Fx Console, Trim Paths, Dojo Ease, etc.
Have you tested tools such as Rive, Cavalry, Modify, Jitter? If Yes, what do you like about that tool?
Not yet, but I want to try them
What brought you into motion design? (motivation)
I’ve always loved brands, visual identity, and things in that way. I worked a lot on brand creation and always enjoyed designing things with significance. Initially, I took a Motion course to add a unique skill to my graphic design work, but over time, I realized how much I enjoyed it, so I began focusing on Motion exclusively. I feel it’s the field where I can apply all my design skills and create things that truly make me proud.

How long are you active within the field of motion design?
I really want to work more and more with motion systems for major brands, and I would also like to work with Vucko, a motion studio that is my biggest reference.
What kind of advice would you give to aspiring motion designers?
I think the biggest advice is to not give up, to be patient, and to be persistent. it’s not an easy field to break into and see returns. Another very important thing is to stay updated on what’s happening in the industry around the world and always learn new things. Keeping the portfolio updated with personal projects and in line with what you want to achieve is also essential

How has Design On Acid helped you?
I didn’t know about the page until now, but I really liked the curation you do and the projects you share. I think it’s very important to have pages like yours to spread the culture of motion around the world.
Shoutout to the killer internal team at Deskbee and Fabio Haag for the stunning type design.
